| Cougars Nip Saints, 3-2 | In a low-scoring affair between the Chicago Cougars and the Montreal Saints, pitcher Roy Ellis was the difference between victory and defeat. The Chicago right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Cougars win. Ellis, the winner, moves to 10-10. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 5 walks. Pug White closed it out for his 21st save.
In the bottom of the second, Chicago center fielder Jerry McMillan had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, McMillan stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-2, Chicago. For the game, he was 1 for 5.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Chicago manager Buck Cuppett.
The Cougars improved to 79-54.
