The Washington Eagles beat the Pittsburgh Miners by a score of 7-2. Washington first baseman Joe Holland deserved the lion's share of the credit. Holland went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Eagles. Foster Sherman, the winner, goes to 1-3. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 1 strikeout over 6 innings. The Miners, now 4-14, continue their inauspicious start.

Howdy Oakes was 1 for 3 for Washington. The 21-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Hank Griswold. It was his 4th RBI of the season.
