Gene Faulkenberry pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Montreal Saints, despite Faulkenberry's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Chicago Cougars at Cougars Park. Pug White, 8-4, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Cougars have now won 4 straight.

Buddy Byrd was the walk-off hero for Chicago. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cougars second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

After the game, Chicago manager Buck Cuppett applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
