| Stars Lose, 4-2, in 11 | The San Francisco Sailors topped the Los Angeles Stars, 4-2, in 11 innings. San Francisco catcher Dick Hunt, in particular, was impressive. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Davey Chamberlain earned his 3rd save in 4 tries. The loss makes Los Angeles 52-45.
Hunt had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a 2-0 fastball from Ted Ferguson, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Sailors a 4-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Hunt.
San Francisco manager Walt Zecher was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
