Chicago Wins, 6-5, Over Minutemen
The Chicago Chiefs downed the Boston Minutemen, 6-5, at Minuteman Stadium. The Chiefs were led by Al Padgett. Padgett was 2-3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win belonged to Jack Thomas in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Steve Talley took the loss for Boston. The defeat makes Boston 34-43.

Gene Rader came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Chicago manager Dutch Becker.
