Suns Tag Miners with 8-7 Loss
In a tight contest at Fitzpatrick Park, the Los Angeles Suns edged the Pittsburgh Miners by the score of 8-7. Los Angeles catcher Stan Czerwinski, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The winner in relief was Alex Vaughan. He is now 1-0. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 3.2 innings. Los Angeles, at 30-46, occupies 9th place in the Federal Association.

Los Angeles center fielder Andy Hervey contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 53rd hit of the season and put the Suns ahead, 4-3.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Hervey said.
