Saints Drop 7-1 Decision | The Cleveland Foresters got a stellar effort from pitcher Sibby Smith, helping Cleveland score a win over the visiting Montreal Saints, 7-1. With this game in the books, Cleveland is 23-18, Montreal 17-20.
Jerry Hubbs had a big grand slam home run for the Foresters in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cleveland leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he sized up a cutter from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Duke Edin and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Foresters on top, 7-1.
"The team always comes first," Hubbs told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that." | |
