Stars Get One-Run Win at San Francisco | Hank Lacey pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The San Francisco Sailors, despite Lacey's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Los Angeles Stars at Golden Gate Stadium. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Mel Maddox. Los Angeles raised its record to 21-17 with the win.
Ed Howard aided the Los Angeles cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman went 2-4 with a triple.
"Runs were at a premium," said Los Angeles manager Charley McCullough. | |
