Keystones Beaten By Eagles, 6-2 | The Washington Eagles topped the Philadelphia Keystones, 6-2, in Federal Association action at Broad Street Park II. The standout performance belonged to Washington pitcher and Memphis, Tennessee, native Jim Stewart. Stewart, who is tied for 10th in the FA with a 2.20 ERA, went the distance for Washington. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. The Eagles with just their 4th win in 16 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Chief Lewis was 1 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for Washington. The 36-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jorge Arellano. It was his 7th RBI of the season.
"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Stewart. | |
