| Sailors Zap Stars, 3-2 | San Francisco registered a win at Golden Gate Stadium by beating the Los Angeles Stars, 3-2. Pitcher Charlie Lawson was one reason why the Sailors triumphed. The win makes San Francisco 20-28.
Had Bob Gray not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gray hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Sailors.
"Charlie was throwing strikes, locating well," said San Francisco manager Walt Zecher.
