| Sailors Win, Ota has 3 hits | Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Sailors beat the Kites.
The Osaka Sailors powered past the Kinboshi Kites, 8-3, at Kotei Stadium. Kousei Ota provided some of the pop. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Atsuhiro Smith, who is tied for 6th in the WL with a 5.5 K/9 rate, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts.
In the bottom of the first, Ota had a 2-run home run for Osaka. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Sailors on top, 2-0.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Ota told the Osaka Observer.
The Sailors, at 13-21, sit in 5th place in the Western League.
