Boston Triumphs with Late Surge | The Boston Minutemen took Pittsburgh pitcher Jimmy Blair's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Fitzpatrick Park. The final score had Boston getting past the Miners, 3-1. Blair went 6 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 4. The save went to Don Griffin, number 3 for him. For Pittsburgh, now 3-12, the season is off to a dismal start.
Ed Wise came through with a big-time hit for Boston. The second baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Wise. | |
