Washington Loss Tarnishes Perry Performance
The St. Louis Pioneers spoiled a good performance by Washington catcher Ike Perry, bumping off Washington, 12-7, at Pioneer Field II. Perry went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Hiram Steinberg, the winner, is now 2-1. He struck out 3 and walked 2 over 5.2 innings, while allowing 7 runs on 9 hits. St. Louis sits at 3-5.

Eddie Morris had a big run-scoring double for the Pioneers in the bottom of the second inning. With St. Louis leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Dick Greenhalgh and swatted a double to center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pioneers ahead, 3-1.

"We came out aggressive," said Pioneers manager Cliff Everett. "We came out swinging the bats."
