| Morioka goes 3-for-5, Reliables Move to 15-7 | Reliables third baseman Sunao Morioka left his mark on his team's 9-3 win over the Sapporo Bears. Morioka, who leads the EL in home runs with 8, went 3-5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5 for Hosho in the contest. Kinichi Ota, 2-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. The loss drops the Bears to 9-12.
Senichi Kawakami, who is tied for 6th in the EL in home runs with 4, aided the Hosho cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first baseman was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Shun Kawamura said.
