Chiefs Score Late to Upend Suns, 5-2
The Chicago Chiefs took Los Angeles pitcher Frank Carey's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Whitney Park. The final score had Chicago getting past the Suns, 5-2. Carey went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 5. The Suns fall to 4-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1962 season.

Chicago took a 3-2 lead on Rod Shearer's 2nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Shearer hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Los Angeles pitcher Whitey Stewart visibly frustrated.

Chicago manager Dutch Becker praised his team's "businesslike approach."
