| Nakamura Stars in 11-4 Bears Win | Led by Tsuguto Nakamura, the Sapporo Bears downed the Kyoto Owls, 11-4. Nakamura went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Bears. Sapporo pitcher Mario de los Santos earned the win, hiking his record to 1-4. Tadanori Miyata suffered the loss. The win puts Sapporo at 9-11.
Had Tetsuya Tanaka not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Tanaka hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Bears.
"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Nakamura told the Sapporo Observer.
