Washington Topples Pittsburgh, 2-0 | The Washington Eagles converted a terrific effort from starter Bob Haverhill into a win over the Pittsburgh Miners at Fitzpatrick Park. The Eagles won the game by a final score of 2-0. Jim Heitzman earned save number 10 this season. At 68-82, the Eagles are currently 7th in the Federal Association.
Roosevelt Brewer, who finished 3rd in the FA in stolen bases with 21 in 1950, had a direct impact on the outcome. Brewer contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Washington up, 1-0.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Brewer. | |
