Chiefs Snag 9-7 Win | The timely hitting of John Moss helped the Chicago Chiefs take down the Detroit Dynamos, 9-7, in 13 innings. Moss went 2-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Chiefs. Chicago reliever Ernie Espanoza picked up the win, upping his record to 12-8. Wally Hunter absorbed the loss. Mel Haynes notched his 3rd save of the season.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 13th, until Moss delivered big-time for Chicago, stroking a dramatic 2-run triple off Wally Hunter. The game-changing hit put the Chiefs on top, 9-7.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Moss told the Chicago Citizen.
