Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Eagles
Despite a great performance by Boston right fielder Rick Masters, the Washington Eagles defeated the Minutemen by the score of 11-10 at Columbia Stadium. Masters was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Washington reliever Jim Heitzman picked up the win to move to 13-9. Merton Myers suffered the loss. Washington bumps their record to 62-68 with the win.

Bob Coon was the walk-off hero for Washington. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Eagles pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Boston manager Harry Barrell expressed his frustration after the game: "That many runs and it still wasn't enough?"
