| St. Louis Upended, 5-2, by Philadelphia | The Philadelphia Keystones downed the St. Louis Pioneers, 5-2, at Pioneer Field II. Rudy Minton led the way, going 3-for-5 for Philadelphia. Tony Dixon picked up the save, his 10th. The 6th-place Keystones go to 56-73.
Minton contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Philadelphia in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Minton took a curveball from Bill Kline and stroked the home run to right. His 24th home run of the season allowed the Keystones to leap in front, 4-2.
"We did a lot of things right," said Minton.
