Kansas City Nets 7-6 Win Versus Cannons
The Kansas City Kings weathered an outstanding game by Cincinnati center fielder Bonnie Chapin to topple the Cannons, 7-6. Chapin hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was 31-year old left-handed pitcher Beau McClellan. He tossed 142 pitches over 9 innings, allowing 6 runs on 10 hits. The first-place Kings have won 8 straight.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Kansas City. That's when Bob Burge, who finished 5th in the CA in on-base percentage with .405 in 1955, hit a 2-run home run off Charlie Warren to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Burge, "but we got it done."
