Drooping Imperials Lose 7th Straight
The New York Imperials got a superb performance from pitcher John Billops, but the Dallas Wranglers still won the game, 7-5. Billops threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The Imperials, now 32-70, have lost 7 in a row.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Dallas. That's when 29-year old left fielder Elmer Piper hit a 2-run home run off Eddie Webb to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"That's what this team is about," said Piper, "picking each other up."
