Les Cunha added some punch to the Philadelphia offense, helping them outmuscle the Toronto Wolves, 10-7. In the game, Cunha, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1943 draft, went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 6. The winner in relief was Joe Hess. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-3. With the victory, the Sailors record now stands at 19-21.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Cunha hit a fastball from Harry Phillips for a 3-run home run. The Sailors, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
