Waggoner Hits 2 home runs in Dynamos Win | The Detroit Dynamos defeated the Philadelphia Keystones, 8-3, in part because of first baseman Ray Waggoner. Waggoner went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice for the Dynamos. Jim Norris, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 4. The win gives Detroit a record of 5-2.
Detroit used the timely hitting of George Hartnett to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dynamos on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We've got a great group of guys," Waggoner said, "and we're having fun right now." | |
