| Hawks Take Down Bulls, 5-4 | The San Francisco Hawks beat the Houston Bulls, 5-4. San Francisco pitcher and Middletown, Rhode Island, native Maurice Russell led the way. Russell, now 4-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. Hugh Schneider notched his 12th save in 15 chances.
San Francisco relied on the hitting of Pete Frisbie to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Hawks on top, 3-1. For the game, Frisbie had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Both teams played hard," said San Francisco manager Billy Rose.
San Francisco is now 42-43, Houston 55-33.
