Guzzo 3-4 to Power Green Sox Offense
The 6-2 Portland win over San Diego was due largely to Johnny Guzzo. The Green Sox shortstop was 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Roy Montgomery, the winner, improved to 2-4. He held the Conquistadors to 1 run on 1 hit over 6.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 9. Portland occupies 6th place in the Great Western League at 27-32.

The Green Sox got an important contribution from center fielder Bobby Boone, who in the bottom of the second punched a 1-1 changeup into right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 14th double of the season and put the Green Sox ahead, 3-0.
