Hawks Nip Thunderbirds, 3-2
The San Francisco Hawks topped the Seattle Thunderbirds, 3-2, in Great Western League action at Thunderbird Park. The standout performance belonged to San Francisco pitcher and Los Angeles, California, native Charlie Sutton. With the win, San Francisco raised its record to 23-23.

San Francisco used a clutch hit from Woody Stone to get the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hawks ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" San Francisco manager Billy Rose said.
