Green Sox Win, 11-9, at Los Angeles
The Portland Green Sox downed the Los Angeles Knights, 11-9. The hitting star was shortstop Ernie Brown. Brown was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Green Sox. Tom Williams was credited with the save for Portland, his 2nd of the season. Portland bumps their record to 22-24 with the win.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Bill Downs came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Chick Pappalardo, he hit a first pitch cutter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Portland on top, 11-9.

Green Sox manager Oscar Henderson wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
