Whetzel Tosses 4-0 Shutout for Houston | Before the game, Ed Whetzel said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Bulls Stadium, the Bulls pitcher blanked the San Francisco Hawks 4-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Whetzel said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my changeup even when I was behind in the count."
The Houston starter held San Francisco scoreless, giving up 6 hits while registering 2 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Hawks manager Billy Rose said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
So far this season Whetzel has a 6-3 record, 9 starts, 71 innings, 48 strikeouts and a 2.54 ERA. | |
