| San Francisco 24-15 After 6-4 Win Over Chicago | The San Francisco Sailors defeated the Chicago Cougars by the score of 6-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman George Rutter. Rutter went 2 for 2 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Sailors on the day. The winning pitcher was Jackie James. He's now 5-1. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Sailors. Dan Atwater earned the save for San Francisco, his 5th of the year.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Les Cunha to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sailors on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Rutter called it "a solid win."
San Francisco leads the Continental Association by 2½ games.
