Conquistadors Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start
Led by Russ Thurston, the San Diego Conquistadors defeated the Dallas Centurions, 6-4. Thurston was 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Conquistadors. Bill Keith earned the save for San Diego, his 1st. The Conquistadors, now 5-10, have not found much traction so far in 1949.

With San Diego leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Thurston hit a circle change from Rube Finegan for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Conquistadors ahead, 3-0.

"We ground out the win," said Thurston. "That's all that matters."
