The San Francisco right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 Sailors win. Whitney, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up no walks. One of the key players for the Sailors was right fielder Edwin Hackberry, who drilled a single in the top of the first inning. For the game, Hackberry was 4-5 with 4 singles.
