| Dynamos Take Tight Tangle | The Detroit Dynamos picked up a win at Gotham Stadium, knocking off the New York Gothams, 2-1. Starting pitcher Howie French was a big reason why. Detroit reliever Bill Follis picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Bill Howard was tagged with the loss. Detroit, now 17-9, has played well in the early going.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Dick Tucker to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dynamos on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said New York manager Harry Davis. "We just didn't cash in."
