The game was highlighted by the performance of San Francisco pitcher Sam Franklin. Franklin, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. The win brings the Sailors to 15-12, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Heinie Spitler? The San Francisco second baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Sailors on top, 2-0. For the game, Spitler had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
