Slumping Millers Lose 9th Straight
The losses keep piling up for the Minneapolis Millers.

The Minutemen grabbed a win, 7-3, at Hennepin County Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Minneapolis pitcher Bill Smith. Smith went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Dee Britton notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record now sits at 2-1.

Boston used a timely hit from Bill Tutwiler to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Minutemen ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

"We've got to kick it in gear soon," said Minneapolis manager Frank Vance.

Minneapolis, now 1-22, continues its tough start.
