Foresters Notch 5-2 Win Versus Stars | The Cleveland Foresters picked up a win at Forester Stadium, topping the Los Angeles Stars, 5-2. On the mound for Cleveland was left-hander Jake Pearson. He played a principal role in the triumph. The Stars, 11-20, continue their poor start to the 1959 campaign.
Mike Spear dealt the Stars a blow in the bottom of the first. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Cleveland leading 2-1, Spear, who is tied for 8th in the CA in extra base hits with 13, hit a 2-2 changeup for a 2-run single.
"Jake's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Cleveland manager Jim Whitehead. | |
