Eagles Edge Keystones, 9-8 | Despite a great performance by Philadelphia right fielder Buddy Miller, the Washington Eagles defeated the Keystones by the score of 9-8 at Columbia Stadium. Miller was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Washington is 21-22 and Philadelphia, with the loss, 18-25.
Al Marino had a big grand slam home run for the Eagles in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Washington leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he sized up a slider from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Fritz Walsh and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Eagles on top, 7-1.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Marino. | |
