Miners Flatten Chiefs, 9-3
Pat Simon, who finished 5th in the FA in wins with 16 last year, propelled his team to victory over the Chicago Chiefs. The final score was 9-3, Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh, now 13-8, has gotten their season off to a good start.

The Chiefs had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Miners going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old third baseman Reid Barrell came to the plate. Barrell hit a run-scoring double on a full count sinker from Chicago hurler Bud Andrews. It was Barrell's 3rd double of the year.

"Pat throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Pittsburgh manager Harry Barrell.
