| Gothams Clip Minutemen in Tight Contest, 3-2 | The bats were silent much of the day at Minuteman Stadium. But former first overall pick Earl Howe produced just enough offense to carry the Gothams past the Boston Minutemen, 3-2. Howe was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. New York is third in the Federal Association with a record of 65-58.
New York used a timely hit from Chief Lewis to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Gothams ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Lewis said.
