Kings Score Late to Beat Wranglers, 7-6 | Dallas got a terrific game from shortstop Earle Farmer. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Kansas City, 7-6. Farmer was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Kansas City reliever Del Lamb got the win, raising his record to 8-2. Chet Baker was tagged with the loss. The first-place Kings, at 64-33, lead the Continental Association by 4 games.
Charlie Rogers was the walk-off hero for Kansas City. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Kings pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Rogers told the Kansas City Observer. | |
