Forester Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Toronto Wolves and Cleveland Foresters.

The inspired effort of Toronto center fielder Wally Boyer was not enough to prevent a loss, 3-2, to the Cleveland Foresters. Boyer was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk. Cleveland pitcher Larry Beebe earned the win, hiking his record to 15-3. Lynn Horn suffered the loss. Hank Berkowitz earned save number 21 this season.

The Wolves had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Foresters going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the two-time All-Star Frenchy Sonntag came to the plate. Sonntag hit a run-scoring double on a full count changeup from Toronto hurler Lynn Horn. It was Sonntag's 15th double of the year.

"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Sonntag said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."

Cleveland is now 67-49. Toronto is 51-66.
