6-2 Loss Extends Philadelphia Skid | The New York Gothams topped the Philadelphia Keystones, 6-2, in Federal Association action at Broad Street Park II. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Palmira, Cuba, native Jorge Arellano. The Gothams improved their record to 58-53 by beating Philadelphia.
New York used the timely hitting of Chief Lewis to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Gothams on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Carl Ames. | |
