New York Loses, 5-2, to Chicago in 12 | Chicago right fielder Henry Watson had a 3-RBI game, which proved instrumental to his team beating the New York Imperials, 5-2. Watson picked up 2 singles and 2 doubles in the ballgame. Arch Wilson, who led the CA in saves with 25 in 1957, was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-1. The losing pitcher was Frank Williams. Bob Burdick got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 23-year old shortstop Tom Halliday. Halliday had a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Cougars ahead, 3-2. For the game, Halliday had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was a good effort all around," said Halliday.
Chicago is off to a hot start at 18-9. | |
