Bell, Pioneers Too Much for Minutemen
A good performance from second baseman Bob Bell helped the St. Louis Pioneers defeat the Boston Minutemen, 7-4. Bell was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Pioneers. Charlie Blake got the win, improving to 4-3. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 4 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 3. John Gibson nailed down his 6th save.

With St. Louis leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Bell hit a fastball from Ray Gonyea for a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Pioneers ahead, 4-0.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Bell.

The Pioneers have an impressive 29-10 record.
