The Washington Eagles beat the New York Gothams, 9-2, at Columbia Stadium. Joe Holland, the first overall pick in the 1956 draft, starred for Washington. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Bill Peterson was the winner. He's now 3-1. The loser was Sam Ivey. The Eagles raised their record to 48-62.

Jack Thompson was 1-4 with a walk against the Gothams. In the bottom of the first inning, he reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run, putting Washington in front, 1-0.

"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Bert Carlton.
