Philadelphia Squanders Big Game by Murphy
Philadelphia first baseman Bob G. Murphy pounded Boston Minutemen pitchers at Minuteman Stadium, but it was not enough to keep the Keystones from falling, 10-8. Murphy was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Chuck Murphy, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 5 innings. The Boston winning streak has reached 4 games.

Bill Tutwiler had a big 2-run double for the Minutemen in the bottom of the second inning. With Boston trailing 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from Don McKeown, who finished 4th in the FA in saves with 16 in 1959, and swatted a double to left. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Minutemen ahead, 5-4.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Minutemen manager Bill Freeman. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
