Kings Drop Imperials, 7-6 | Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Dyckman Stadium.
The Kansas City Kings had to overcome a fine effort from New York pitcher Ernie Tisdale to win, 7-6, at Dyckman Stadium. Tisdale went 6 innings and allowed 4 runs. Kansas City reliever Frankie Sawyer picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Joe Smith was tagged with the loss. John Jones earned the save, his 1st, for the Kings.
Kansas City relied on the hitting of Pat Davis to pick up the win. The left fielder ripped a 2-run single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Kings on top, 7-5. For the game, Davis had 1 triple and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.
"We got the victory," said Davis. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
Kansas City is now 13-6. | |
