Saints Win, 5-4, Versus Kansas City | The Montreal Saints picked up a win at Parc Cartier II, taking down the Kansas City Kings, 5-4. Starting pitcher George Polk was a big reason why. Tommy Seymour snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 5-7 on the season. The 5th-place Saints lifted their record to 50-56.
Had Joe Scott not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Scott hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Saints.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Scott told the Montreal Gazette. "You win just by scoring more runs." | |
