Stars Lose at Home, 9-7 | The Los Angeles Stars withstood an impressive performance by San Francisco left fielder John Kingsbury to defeat the Sailors, 9-7, at Golden Gate Stadium. Kingsbury went 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Dewey Allcock got the win, improving to 2-0. He worked 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 3. The Sailors, now 5-11, continue their sluggish start.
Los Angeles shortstop Mike Forst contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Stars ahead, 7-0.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Forst said after the game. | |
