Montreal first baseman Ham Flanders had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-6, to Chicago at Cougars Park. Flanders was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Picking up the save was Pug White. He's now 13 for 17 in save chances. The Cougars, at 48-35, sit in third place in the Continental Association.

The Saints had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Cougars going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old shortstop Tom Halliday came to the plate. Halliday hit a grand slam home run on a 1-1 slider from Montreal hurler Jim Montgomery. It was Halliday's 5th home run of the year.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Halliday.
