6-4 Loss to Saints Extends New York Losing Streak | Montreal registered a win at Dyckman Stadium by beating the New York Imperials, 6-4. Pitcher Jerry Duncan was one reason why the Saints triumphed. Duncan, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. To call the performance of the 1962 Imperials subpar is an understatement.
Montreal used the hitting of Harry Swain to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Saints on top, 1-0. For the game, Swain had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Duncan. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance." | |
